Daniil Harms, a russian absurdist and surrealist poet and writer:)

That's what i thought, incredible as it is,to me.I really love the man's poetry and short absurd stories, but haven't seen or held a copy for 27 years, since i left Moscow at the age of 13...Do you read him in original or has someone translated him?How does one translate Ivan IVanych Samovar?

I was working 4 years in Russia, so I speak Russian quite good, although I'll never really learn the declinations proper:)I don't think there is an equivalent word for Samovar in English, well kinda tee-making device..?whoa,sounds horrable...sorry,English is not my first language as well:(

Well,it's great that you like Harms...Maybe you know that there were a few of those guys,Ovchinnikov, and others, that tried to escape into the absurdizm, under the guise of writing for children, when they realised that things are really going to the bad...All of them, like Harms, dissapeard into the camps, kak"Iz doma vyshel chelovek...".Strangely,the word"samovar" is fairly common here,in US,but even more strange-it's a Sanskrit word...
